What is a 4G proxy?

A 4G proxy routes your internet traffic through a physical modem connected to a mobile carrier's 4G network. The result: websites see a real mobile IP address instead of your own.

How a 4G proxy works

A proxy is a server that sits between your device and the internet. When you send a request, it goes through the proxy first, which forwards it to the target website using its own IP address. The website sees the proxy's IP, not yours.

A 4G proxy is a proxy that connects to the internet through a 4G mobile network. Instead of a server in a datacenter, it uses a physical modem with a SIM card — exactly like a smartphone. The IP address it gets comes from the mobile carrier's pool, making it indistinguishable from a regular phone user.

Why mobile IPs are trusted

Mobile carriers use a system called CGNAT (Carrier-Grade NAT) to share a limited number of public IP addresses among thousands of subscribers. This means any given mobile IP is used by hundreds of real people throughout the day. Websites cannot block these addresses without blocking legitimate mobile users — which is why mobile IPs have the highest trust score of any proxy type.

Types of proxies compared

Datacenter proxies use IPs from hosting companies. They are fast and cheap but easy to detect and block. Residential proxies use IPs from home ISP connections. They are harder to detect but often shared across a large pool of users. 4G mobile proxies use carrier IPs with the highest trust score, making them the best choice for tasks where detection matters.

Common use cases

  • Social media management. Run multiple Instagram, TikTok, Twitter or LinkedIn accounts without triggering detection. Each account group gets a consistent mobile IP.
  • Web scraping. Collect data from sites protected by Cloudflare, DataDome or PerimeterX. Mobile IPs pass anti-bot checks that block datacenter addresses.
  • Sneaker botting. Checkout on Nike SNKRS, Adidas and Footlocker through an IP that anti-bot systems trust.
  • Price monitoring. Track competitor prices on e-commerce sites without getting blocked or served fake data.
  • Ad verification. Check that ads display correctly in a specific country by connecting from a real local IP.
  • Privacy. Browse without revealing your real IP. A mobile IP is less suspicious than a VPN or datacenter address.

Dedicated vs. shared 4G proxy

A shared mobile pool gives you access to many IPs, but you share them with other customers. If someone else abuses an IP, it can affect your work.

A dedicated 4G proxy assigns a physical modem and SIM card to you alone. Nobody else uses it. You control when the IP rotates, and the IP has no prior abuse history. This is the approach ShadowProxy takes: one modem per customer, 200 GB per month, full control.

Physical modem

A real 4G modem with a French SIM card, not a virtual machine or a software emulation.

Carrier IP

The same kind of address a regular smartphone gets. Trusted by every website and platform.

Rotation on demand

Change your IP with one click or one API call. Fresh address in under 20 seconds.

Your modem only

Nobody else shares your hardware or your IP. No contamination from other users.

HTTP & SOCKS5

Both protocols with credentials. Compatible with browsers, bots, scripts and any tool that supports proxies.

200 GB per month

Enough for social media management, scraping and daily browsing combined.

Get started in three steps

  1. Create your account

An email address is enough. Confirm it: that is where we send your credentials.

  2. Order and pay

A 4G proxy for 1 to 12 months, paid by card or with your balance.

  3. Connect and browse

Paste the HTTP or SOCKS5 line into your browser, bot or script. Your modem goes live within 24 hours, often within minutes.

What is the difference between a proxy and a VPN?

A proxy routes specific application traffic (usually HTTP/SOCKS) through a remote server. A VPN encrypts all traffic from your device through a tunnel. Proxies offer more granular control per application or per browser profile, which is why they are preferred for multi-account management.

Is using a 4G proxy legal?

Using a proxy is legal in most countries. However, what you do through it must comply with local laws and the terms of service of the sites you visit.

How fast is a 4G proxy?

Speed depends on the 4G signal strength and carrier congestion. Typical download speeds range from 20 to 80 Mbps, with latency around 30–60 ms — fast enough for browsing, scraping and account management.

Is the data unlimited?

Our plans include 200 GB per month, which covers the vast majority of use cases. Additional data can be purchased if needed.

What is CGNAT and why does it matter?

CGNAT (Carrier-Grade NAT) is how mobile carriers share a limited pool of public IP addresses among thousands of subscribers. This means the IP you get is also used by regular phone users, making it appear trustworthy to websites.
